Clinical Evolution of Hoodia Gordonii

Taking overweight as a subject in the year two thousand one, Phytopharm conducted a placebo-controlled, double blind clinical evaluation but otherwise fit volunteers those who were using extract from Hoodia Gordonii. The volunteers were divided form into two groups, one group got placebo and other one got P57, both the groups were instructed to continue their regular diet and workout routine. The effects of the evaluation are as follows:

- The P57 group had no adverse undesired effects.

- Characterizing considerable drop of P57 group in the calorie intake.

- Characterizing considerable drop of P57 group in body fat.

The P57 group consumed thousand calories on average which is a day lesser as compared to the control group. The results were very inspiring as the average American man eats twenty six hundred calories on a daily basis and a woman about nineteen hundred calories.

Hoodia Gordonii Experiments on Animals

At Brown Medical School these experiments were conducted in the year 2004. Zucker Rats were given Hoodia to eat. Zucker Rats are unique breed of rats that are bred to diabetic and overweight. After consuming Hoodia the Zucker Rats showed reversal of their diabetes and weight reduction.

The level of importance must be high for a product that can make a rat stop eating.

What are the various studies that are behind making Hoodia Gordonii an appetite suppressor?

Hoodia deceives the brain and makes you believe that you are not hungry when it is not completely true. The brain sends out the message that you are full so as a result you don’t eat anything. Hoodia is more efficient as compared to glucose in letting the brain know that you don’t need anything to eat.

Following is the functioning of P57 by Phytopharm’s Dr. Richard:

Hypothalamus is a part of the brain and in between the mid-brain the glucose sugar is perceived by the nerve cells. When you eat the level of blood sugar raises due to the intake of the food, these cells start functioning and now you don’t feel like eating anything. Hoodia contains a molecule that is ten thousand times active than the glucose. After reaching the mid brain the nerve cells start functioning like you don’t need anything to eat. But in reality you have not eaten anything and you don’t feel like eating also.
Reported by Mr. Tom (BBC News Reporter) - 05/30/2003.

Are there any undesired effects of Hoodia Gordonii?

There are no reports of any undesired effects from the taking P57 and Hoodia. It is evident that the Bushmen are eating Hoodia Gordonii for the past many years and shown no undesired effects.
